Successful dairy farmers provide a comfortable atmosphere, plenty of clean water, a proper combination of high quality forage, quality concentrate and supplements. High producing milking cows often suffer from acidosis, heat stress and lose body condition which eventually results in poor production and poor reproduction.

LIN PRO provides an excellent source of high quality oil that is 35% in the bypass form to provide energy without causing acidosis. Starch in the rumen ferments rapidly creating acidic conditions, leading to acidosis, inefficient feed utilization and excess heat being generated.

Oil contains 2.25 times the energy of starch on a per unit basis and is digested without the risk of acidosis and added heat stress. Therefore high quality oil from LIN PRO provides increased energy and a longer productive animal life. LIN PRO also provides a large amount of high quality protein which is efficiently digested for optimum milk production.

LIN PRO is recommended for use in cattle because of its effect on the immune system and fertility. LIN PRO can help greatly improve cow health and reduce the risk of disease. If cows are lacking in body condition the following recommendations should be followed:

1. LIN PRO can be fed 3 weeks prior to calving and should be introduced gradually during the first week up to 1 kg/day and at the time of calving increased to 1.5 and 2 kg daily. This should be fed at least 60 days after calving. If there are no health problems such as mastitis or others then LIN PRO can be discontinued after 60 days and replaced with EXTRA PRO which is a high quality feed supplement and cheaper but does not have the immuno stimulant effect of LIN PRO. If the cows continue to have poor body condition then continue with LIN PRO until late lactation.
2. If the cows do not have a problem with acidosis, add 1 kg of LIN PRO to the diet of the existing concentrate or TMR mix. However if acidosis is a problem then reduce the concentrate by 1 kg and add 2 kg of LIN PRO. Also remove any other fat sources.
3. If cows are in poor condition the use of LIN PRO should be continued throughout the entire lactation period to improve body condition and to provide the immuno stimulant effect to help fight off disease and to improve conception. Since cows cycle every 3 weeks it may be advisable to continue 3 weeks after the first cycle.
4. For baby calves, to provide an immuno stimulant effect and to provide an excellent source of energy and protein, calves should be provided with small quantities before weaning, minimum of 50 gr/day or 10% of the concentrate until 4 months of age.

GENERAL FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HEIFERS AND MILKING COWS
Add LIN PRO gradually up to 10% of the concentrate, 2 weeks prior to giving birth and increase to 20% of concentrate until rebreeding. This will help to increase milk production and reduce heat stress.

Please remember, sick cows and cows that are in poor condition do not make any profit. The highest quality feed is LIN PRO and naturally provides help for animals to improve body condition and overall health to increase profits.

NOTE: When feeding high oil supplements ensure that extra calcium and magnesium is available in the diet.
